Neuer Blasts Donnarumma After Musiala Suffers Gruesome Injury in Club World Cup Clash

Musiala out for months after brutal collision with PSG keeper

Manuel Neuer didn’t hold back after Bayern Munich’s Jamal Musiala suffered a devastating leg injury during a 2-0 loss to Paris Saint-Germain in the Club World Cup. The veteran goalkeeper blamed PSG’s Gianluigi Donnarumma for the incident, calling his challenge “reckless” and avoidable.

The match, played in Atlanta, was marred by chaos. PSG finished with nine men after Willian Pancho and Lucas Hernandez were sent off late in the game. But the moment that froze the stadium came much earlier—when Musiala collided with Donnarumma while chasing a loose ball.

Footage showed the Bayern forward’s ankle getting caught between Donnarumma’s body and arms. The momentum tore the two players apart in opposite directions, with Musiala’s leg twisting at a horrific angle. According to Sky Sports Germany, he suffered a fractured tibia and fibula and faces a four to five-month layoff.

Neuer Points the Finger

Neuer was furious post-match. Speaking to Sky Sports Germany, he criticized Donnarumma’s approach: “It was a situation where you don’t have to go in like that. He accepted the risk of injuring his opponent.”

The Bayern captain also revealed that Donnarumma only approached Musiala after Neuer urged him to do so. “It’s a matter of respect,” he said. “Fair play is always part of the game. I would’ve reacted differently.”

Donnarumma appeared shaken immediately after the collision, falling to his knees in tears. He later posted an apology and well wishes to Musiala on Instagram.

Players and Fans React

The sight of Musiala in pain rattled both squads. Teammates including Harry Kane, Kingsley Coman, and Joshua Kimmich turned away in visible distress. Alphonso Davies, currently sidelined with an ACL injury, watched the incident live and could only gasp, repeatedly exclaiming, “Oh my God, no, no, no.”

Musiala was stretchered off and taken directly to an ambulance. DAZN even cut its broadcast to spare viewers the graphic scene.

Bayern manager Vincent Kompany acknowledged the emotional weight of the injury: “It didn’t look good. I hope he gets the best recovery possible.” The club later posted a message of support: “We’re with you, Jamal!”

Fans flooded social media with messages for the 22-year-old. One user wrote, “Absolutely horrific injury. Can’t even blame Donnarumma, it’s just a freak injury.” Others echoed similar sentiments, wishing Musiala a fast and full recovery.
