Tottenham are in advanced talks with Nottingham Forest over a £60 million move for Morgan Gibbs-White, just a day after striking a deal for West Ham’s Mohammed Kudus.
The 25-year-old attacking midfielder has been a long-term target for new Spurs boss Thomas Frank, who is reshaping the squad following a turbulent season that ended with Europa League glory but a dismal 17th-place Premier League finish.
Gibbs-White played a pivotal role in Forest’s impressive seventh-place campaign last season and earned a call-up to the England squad. His performances have turned heads across the Premier League, though Manchester City—who monitored him closely—ultimately walked away earlier in the window.
Forest Set for Windfall—But Holding Out
Forest are open to selling but want closer to £65m plus add-ons, having already offloaded Anthony Elanga to Newcastle for £52.5m. Any deal would include a 10% sell-on clause owed to Wolves, who sold Gibbs-White to Forest for £25m in 2022.
Spurs are hopeful a compromise can be reached, with Gibbs-White seen as a key piece in their Champions League return under Frank. The lure of top-tier European football could tip the scales, especially after Forest narrowly missed out last term.
Kudus Arrival Kickstarts Busy Window
Tottenham’s approach for Gibbs-White follows swiftly on the heels of their £54.5m agreement for Kudus, which marked the first transfer between Spurs and West Ham since 2011. The deal will be paid in instalments over three years.
Kudus had been linked with a host of top clubs but Spurs moved quickly, snapping up the Ghanaian forward well below his £85m release clause. West Ham had initially rejected a £50m offer before settling on terms.
Kudus scored five league goals last season and adds much-needed attacking depth for a side returning to Europe’s top competition.
More Moves on the Horizon
Tottenham have also explored a move for Brentford’s Yoane Wissa but are reluctant to go beyond £35m. They’ve expressed interest in Bryan Mbeumo as well, although the winger is thought to favour a switch to Manchester United—Spurs’ opponents in the recent Europa League final.
Meanwhile, Forest are already lining up replacements for Gibbs-White, eyeing Malick Fofana (Lyon), Johan Bakayoko (PSV), and James McAtee (Man City) as potential options.
Tottenham’s Rebuild in Full Swing
With Kudus in the door and Gibbs-White potentially next, Frank’s Spurs overhaul is picking up steam. Despite a catastrophic league campaign, last season’s Europa League win ensured Champions League football—giving the North London club fresh appeal in the summer market.
And with Forest open to negotiations, Gibbs-White could soon become the latest piece in Tottenham’s new era.
