at The 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup is currently underway in Australia and New Zealand providing football fans around the world non-stop action till Aug 16. This is the biggest women’s world cup till date as the expanded format has resulted in 32 teams competing.
FIFA Set To Make Highest Payout Till Date
FIFA, the governing body for football around the world has a payment structure in place that will see each of the qualifying member associations receive $1.56 million that do not make it past the group stage. Countries that make it to the round of 16 will get $1.87 million while the teams that make it to the quarter-finals will receive $2.18 million.
The country that wins the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup will get $4.29 million and the runner-up will receive $3.015 million. FIFA has also given around $960,000 in preparation money to each of the 32 teams that qualified for the World Cup.
FIFA is paying out 3x more money for the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup when compared to the 2019 edition and 10x more money when compared to the 2015 World Cup.
